“英语演讲”课是作者在经过慎重而周密的考虑后，结合目前国内各大院校总体的英语水平和英语教学的实际情况而决定开设的一门独特而且富有生趣的课程。
    本课程的开设旨在全方位地培养学生的听、说、读、写能力，尤其是听说能力。开设“英语演讲”课的核心目的在于：任课教师通过本课程对学生进行的训练，使学生的听说能力在经过有目的、专门的训练之后达到可以用英语自如地进行日常交流的水平。而经过我们计划内循序渐进的锻炼后，学生的英语水平能够日益提高，最终达到我们希望的程度--谈吐风趣，语言表达有层次、有深度，在与他人交流时思路清晰、应答时反应快、胆子大、口语错误少甚至没有。
